Beauty On The Box
Polo, hunting, hounds, and horse; Cite the gentler joys of dalliance Down Love’s primrose-bordered course: But for me the pole-chains’ jingle, Siren strains their music mocks, When the coach-horn sounds “To places!” With Miladi on the box. She’s an expert with the ribbons (Whether handling steed or swain), Grip of steel beneath the velvet Of her grasp of whip and rein. Jove! she tools her four divinely (Got Batonyi beaten blocks). “Clear the road!” the coach-horn clamors, “Way for Beauty on the box!” Playful lead and plunging wheeler Answer to that skilful rein Each a puppet to her power (True alike of steed and swain). “Clear the road!” the coach-horn clamors, Here’s a truce to Fortune’s “knocks,” With a straight stretch down Love’s highway And Miladi on the box.
