I.  LYRICS FROM WILLIAM BLAKE

28

FRAGMENTS.

I.

THE Sword sang on the barren heath,
The Sickle in the fruitful field:
The Sword he sang a song of death,
    But could not make the Sickle yield.

II.

TO see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower;
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
    And eternity in an hour.

III.

I GIVE you the end of a golden string:
Only wind it into a ball,
It will lead you in at Heaven’s gate,
    Built in Jerusalem wall.
